• Underwrite cyber liability insurance applications, assessing risks related to data breaches, network security, privacy violations, and cyber-attacks.
• Evaluate the IT infrastructure, security protocols, and data handling practices of potential clients.
• Determine appropriate policy terms, conditions, coverage limits, and premiums based on risk assessment.
• Manage a portfolio of cyber liability risks, ensuring profitability and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients, providing expert advice on cyber risk management.
• Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., POPIA, GDPR).
• Collaborate with IT security consultants and incident response teams to enhance risk assessment and management strategies.
• Analyze market intelligence and competitor offerings in the cyber insurance space.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant insurance regulations and company policies.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting tools and strategies for cyber insurance products.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance underwriting, with a specialized focus on cyber liability or technology-related risks.
• Strong understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity principles, data privacy regulations, and common cyber threats.
• Proven ability to underwrite complex technology risks and manage a profitable book of business.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with cyber insurance policies and market standards.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and MS Office Suite.
• A relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
• Certification in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM) or insurance (e.g., CPCU) is a plus.
