Senior UI​/UX Designer & Researcher

Our client, What Jobs Direct, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior UI/UX Designer & Researcher to join their growing digital product team in Benoni, Gauteng . This role is essential for creating intuitive, engaging, and user-centered digital experiences across our platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in both user interface design and user experience research methodologies.

You will be responsible for understanding user needs, translating insights into design solutions, and crafting visually appealing and functional interfaces. This position requires a blend of creativity, analytical thinking, and a passion for user advocacy. We are looking for a proactive individual who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and developers, to deliver exceptional user journeys. • Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights into user behaviors and needs.
• Develop user personas, user journey maps, and information architecture to guide design decisions.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for web and mobile applications.
• Design visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces that adhere to brand guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to define requirements and translate them into effective design solutions.
• Iterate on designs based on user feedback, usability testing, and performance data.
• Advocate for the user throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Stay current with the latest UI/UX design trends, tools, and best practices.
• Present design concepts and research findings to stakeholders clearly and persuasively.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of design systems.

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in UI/UX design and user research.
• A strong portfolio showcasing a range of user-centered design projects, including research documentation and final UI designs.
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, etc.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting various forms of user research and usability testing.
• Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, and visual design.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge of front-end development capabilities is a plus.
