Underwriting Assistant

Our client is seeking an organized and proactive Underwriting Assistant to provide essential support to the underwriting team in Nelspruit . You will be responsible for managing administrative tasks, gathering information, and assisting underwriters in evaluating insurance risks. This role is an excellent entry point into the insurance industry for individuals with strong administrative skills and a desire to learn. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the underwriting department, contributing to timely policy issuance.

• Assist underwriters by collecting and organizing applicant information, such as proposals, medical reports, and financial statements.
• Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of applications, policies, and endorsements in the underwriting system.
• Communicate with agents, brokers, and clients to request missing information or clarify details.
• Prepare policy documents, endorsements, and renewal notices for underwriter review.
• Schedule meetings and manage the calendar for the underwriting team.
• Conduct preliminary reviews of simple applications under the guidance of senior underwriters.

• High school diploma or equivalent; a certificate in insurance or business is a plus.
• Previous administrative or clerical experience, preferably in an office environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
