The Expeditor is the operational link between our customers, drivers, Fleet Planners and management, ensuring loads move efficiently from collection through to final delivery while maintaining operational visibility, communication and compliance.
About the RoleReporting to the Fleet Planners and Operations Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating assigned transport movements, tracking vehicle progress, communicating with customers and drivers, managing operational risks, and ensuring all operational documentation is completed accurately and on time. Your role is critical in ensuring service delivery commitments are achieved while proactively identifying and resolving operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and expedite assigned loads from collection through to final delivery.
- Track vehicle movements and proactively manage delays, route deviations and operational exceptions.
- Maintain continuous communication with customers, drivers and internal stakeholders.
- Provide proactive ETA updates and communicate any service disruptions.
- Monitor telematics, tracking systems and fuel card activity.
- Coordinate operational changes and escalate incidents, breakdowns and service failures.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements and legislative obligations.
- Capture and maintain accurate operational documentation, including PODs, fuel slips, toll slips, registers and daily reports.
- Complete detailed shift handovers and maintain accurate operational records across company systems.
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Certificate or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Transport Management will be advantageous.
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience within a transport, logistics or fleet control environment.
- Experience in vehicle tracking and transport operations.
- Customer service experience within a logistics environment.
- Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and telematics platforms.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and administrative accuracy.
- Ability to prioritise competing operational demands.
- A proactive, accountable and solutions-driven mindset.
- Comfortable working with multiple computer systems and monitoring vehicle movements for extended periods.
- Office-based role within the Operations Control Centre.
- Rotating day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- High-pressure operational environment requiring continuous monitoring and rapid decision-making.
- Frequent communication with customers, drivers and internal stakeholders.
- Annual medical assessment and drug screening required.
- Additional hours may be required during operational disruptions or business requirements.
