Supply Chain Manager

Do you enjoy fixing messy processes, negotiating hard, keeping stock under control and turning emergency buying into proper forward planning? You’ll take ownership across procurement, logistics and stores, with a direct impact on production, downtime and cost.

This is a hands-on Supply Chain Manager role in the exploration drilling and heavy equipment space.
Duties /

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of drilling parts, spares, consumables, tools, tyres and site equipment.
• Build and maintain a reliable supplier network.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and supply agreements with a focus on total landed cost.
• Plan regular consolidated supply runs to operational sites.
• Reduce emergency freight, courier costs and last-minute purchasing.
• Coordinate deliveries between suppliers, workshops, warehouses and remote sites.
• Manage warehouse and site stores processes, stock accuracy and critical stock levels.
• Improve stock coding, bin locations, stock counts and issue/return controls.
• Reduce stockouts, excess stock and obsolete inventory.
• Work closely with operational and maintenance teams to forecast upcoming requirements.
• Drive stronger purchasing discipline and eliminate unnecessary site cash purchases.

Requirements

• At least 7 years’ experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics or warehouse management.
• Experience in mining, drilling, heavy equipment, construction, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
• Strong procurement and supplier negotiation skills.
• Practical experience managing warehouses or stores.
• Good understanding of logistics planning and site supply.
• Confident using Excel and ERP or inventory management systems.
• Comfortable working closely with operational, workshop and site teams.

Education A relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Commerce, Engineering, Operations Management or a related field.
Soft Skills Strong planning skills, commercial awareness and attention to detail are essential. You’ll need to be practical, accountable and comfortable challenging poor buying habits. This role suits someone who follows through, handles pressure well and would rather prevent the fire than spend all day putting it out.
