Job Overview

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will lead the end‑to‑end sourcing lifecycle for critical raw materials, services and capital equipment across Sasol’s energy and chemicals portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Global Procurement, the incumbent will develop sourcing strategies, negotiate high‑value contracts and drive cost‑optimization initiatives while ensuring compliance with corporate governance and sustainability standards. This position offers the chance to influence global supply chains and work closely with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, operations and finance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for high‑impact categories, aligning with corporate cost‑saving targets.
  • Lead complex negotiations with multinational suppliers, securing favorable terms, risk mitigation clauses and sustainability commitments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to understand technical specifications and translate them into sourcing requirements.
  • Manage supplier performance through KPIs, scorecards and continuous improvement programs.
  • Conduct market intelligence analyses to anticipate price volatility, supply risks and emerging technologies.
  • Prepare detailed business cases, cost‑benefit analyses and executive presentations for approval.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, ethical standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor junior procurement staff and foster a culture of innovation within the team.
Required Skills
  • Advanced negotiation and contract management expertise.
  • Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in spend analysis tools and Excel.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of the energy and chemicals supply market.
  • Project management experience, preferably with PMP or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to influence senior leadership and drive cross‑functional initiatives.
