General Manager: Exports

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Execution

• Lead and manage the export management and operations team.
• Oversee the effective execution of the export value chain.
• Manage the Export Management Operating System and ensure consistent operational execution.
• Oversee supply-demand planning, logistics, export documentation and programme delivery.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, processes and systems.
• Drive accountability and disciplined execution across the team.

• Optimise fruit allocation across customers and international markets.
• Balance customer requirements, product specifications, supply constraints and operational capacity.
• Ensure alignment between supply, customer demand and available capacity.
• Identify, assess and manage key operational, commercial and supply-chain risks.
• Support the effective execution of the agreed marketing and export strategy.

• Lead annual planning and budgeting for the export business unit.
• Drive cost control, financial discipline and accountability.
• Monitor business performance against agreed KPIs.
• Provide clear and actionable reporting on progress, risks and operational performance.

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary export team.
• Build effective relationships across commercial, operational and supply-chain functions.
• Collaborate constructively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide strong leadership in a complex, high-pressure and time-sensitive environment.

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Logistics or a related field

• Proven management experience within fresh produce, exports, supply chain, logistics or a related environment
  .
• Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of planning, logistics, supply chain and export execution.
• Commercially astute with sound financial and operational understanding.
• Proven ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-moving environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High emotional intelligence with the ability to lead effectively under pressure.
• Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Fruit industry experience will be advantageous but is not essential.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, decisive and commercially minded leader who enjoys working close to the operation. The position requires someone who can translate strategy into execution, manage competing priorities and maintain operational discipline while building strong relationships across the business.
