About the Role
Our client, a key player in the industrial manufacturing space, is seeking a skilled Buyer to manage the acquisition of industrial equipment and machinery for their facilities in Benoni . This role is essential for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of critical capital equipment, spare parts, and consumables required for production and maintenance. You will be responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating favourable terms, and managing the entire purchasing lifecycle for capital goods.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial equipment specifications, supply chain dynamics, and a proven ability to drive value and efficiency in procurement, supporting the operational needs within the Gauteng region .
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers of industrial equipment, machinery, and related services.
- Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and delivery schedules for capital equipment purchases.
- Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to understand equipment requirements and specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier information, and inventory levels.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements in the procurement of industrial goods.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in procurement , specifically with industrial equipment or capital goods.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and technical specifications for machinery.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools.
