Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end booking, transportation and ocean freight arrangements, with exports serving as the primary mode of shipment.
- Coordinate and oversee export customs processes and all required documentation through to the CIF stage.
- Ensure strict compliance with all applicable local and international regulations, procedures and protocols governing the transportation of citrus products.
- Take responsibility for departmental budgets, expenditure control and overall cost management.
- Effectively administer shipping line allocations to ensure they remain aligned with agreed contractual volumes and commitments.
- Evaluate and utilise appropriate freight solutions and alternatives to ensure customer delivery requirements and expected arrival dates are consistently achieved.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with the confidence to engage effectively with customers, clients and service providers.
- Comprehensive understanding of ocean freight operations and processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational capabilities, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and manage people effectively.
- Strong commercial negotiation and relationship-management skills.
- Working knowledge and understanding of financial systems and processes.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience within the shipping, freight forwarding or international logistics industry.
- A relevant qualification in International Trade
, Clearing and Forwarding
, Shipping
, or a related field. - Ability to work extended hours when required and perform effectively under strict deadlines and time-sensitive conditions.
- Previous experience in transport logistics will be considered an advantage.
- Exposure to or experience in freight forwarding sales will be an added advantage.
