What you’ll be doing Primary Function – Maintenance Planning, Execution & Asset Reliability
- Provide supervisory management, scheduling, and coordination of the E, M, I & CM maintenance team regarding preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs.
- Oversee predictive vibration analysis, IR thermography scanning, and equipment performance evaluations (motors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes) to ensure PM schedules and ad-hoc corrective actions are executed, reported, and closed out.
- Manage and attend to plant breakdowns promptly, prioritize emergency repairs, and facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA / FMECA) to prevent repeat failures.
- Maintain and apply the computerized Maintenance Information System (SAP), ensuring all assets are clearly identified and controlled within the site Asset Register.
- Lead, supervise, train, and coordinate artisans and technical trade resources, applying sound human resource principles and performance management.
- Enforce strict compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, Mine Health and Safety (MHS) Act regulations, site safety standards, and ISO system requirements.
- Oversee operational and safety procedures pertaining to maintenance activities, including the safe use of hand tools, electrical equipment, and safe Medium Voltage (MV) switching procedures.
- Ensure maintenance housekeeping and environmental safety standards are rigorously upheld at all times.
- Ensure prompt completion and submission of completed PM schedules, job cards, timesheets, and departmental documentation.
- Assist with the monitoring and compilation of detailed monthly reports on equipment condition, preventive/corrective work completed vs. outstanding, and contractual maintenance metrics.
- Assist with technical specifications, equipment sourcing, quality control on refurbished/repaired equipment, and tendering/implementation for new electrical, mechanical, and civil installations.
- Manage maintenance store inventory, ensuring specified, approved, and contractually required critical stock levels are maintained and safely stored.
- Education & Trade: N4 qualification with a recognized Electrical apprenticeship and Section 13 Trade Test (Millwright or Electrician).
- Certifications: Mandatory Medium Voltage (MV) qualification and demonstrated MV switching experience.
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years’ proven experience in a Maintenance Supervisor capacity within an industrial water treatment plant, chemical processing, or heavy engineering plant environment.
- Technical
Skills:
Strong electrical troubleshooting acumen, condition monitoring expertise (vibration/IR), and practical application of Root Cause Analysis (RCA / FMECA) methods. - Systems: Strong computer literacy (MS Office suite) and a proven track record working with computerized maintenance management systems (SAP preferred).
- Licensing & Transport: Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle (essential).
- Compliance & Medical: Medically fit to pass mandatory site medical fitness assessments (capable of working at heights, confined spaces, and in plant environments involving noise, dust, and hazardous chemicals within legal exposure limits).
- Availability &
Location:
Residing in or willing to relocate to the Emalahleni / Witbank region, with the availability to fulfill standby duties after hours, weekend work, and provide regional support if required.
- Salary: R50,000 – R60,000 CTC per month (dependent on experience).
- Impact: Take supervisory and technical ownership of critical electro-mechanical infrastructure at a benchmark industrial water reclamation facility.
- Leadership: Lead, mentor, and build the capacity of an active site maintenance team.
- This role is 100% plant-based on-site in the Emalahleni (Witbank) area, Mpumalanga.
- You will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.
- Success in this role requires a structured, decisive leader who can balance planned maintenance schedules with urgent breakdown repairs while maintaining absolute safety and compliance.
