We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Maintenance & Facilities Manager to lead the full maintenance function of our lodge property. This pivotal role ensures that all buildings, infrastructure, equipment, and grounds are maintained to the highest hospitality standards, while safeguarding safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting exceptional guest experiences by minimizing downtime and ensuring the property remains fully functional, safe, and beautifully presented.
Key Responsibilities
1. Property & Infrastructure Maintenance
- Oversee both preventative and reactive maintenance across:
- Guest rooms and public areas
- Staff accommodation
- Kitchens, laundry, and service areas
- Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Boreholes, pumps, water systems, and irrigation
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds.
2. Team Management
- Supervise maintenance staff and external contractors.
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance.
- Provide training and enforce compliance with safety standards.
- Manage duty rosters and standby schedules.
3. Procurement & Stock Control
- Source and procure maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Manage inventory and maintenance stores.
- Obtain competitive quotations and maintain supplier relationships.
- Control the maintenance budget and monitor expenses.
4. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations, fire safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Maintain fire equipment, alarms, and emergency systems.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Oversee landscaping and grounds maintenance.
- Ensure effective waste management practices.
- Monitor water usage and implement sustainability initiatives.
6. Guest Experience Support
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance concerns.
- Maintain high presentation standards throughout the property.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in maintenance management (hospitality experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
- Basic project management experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work flexible hours and be on call when required.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Budget control and cost management expertise.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
