Mine Maintenance Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-driven Mine Maintenance Manager to lead their maintenance and reliability initiatives for their operations in Nelspruit . This leadership position is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and availability of all mining equipment, from heavy mobile machinery to fixed plant infrastructure. You will manage a large team of maintenance personnel, develop strategic maintenance plans, and foster a culture of proactive maintenance and continuous improvement.

This is a critical role focused on maximizing asset life, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the safety of all maintenance activities within the mining sector .

• Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive maintenance strategies, including preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Manage the maintenance department budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and planners.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with stringent health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Implement and utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for work order management, scheduling, and asset tracking.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering departments to minimize equipment downtime and optimize production schedules.

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in maintenance management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the mining industry .
• Proven track record in managing large maintenance teams and complex maintenance operations.
• Strong knowledge of heavy mining equipment (e.g., haul trucks, excavators, crushers, conveyors) and fixed plant machinery.
• Experience with CMMS software and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
