A well-established BMW & MINI dealership in Somerset West is seeking a detail-oriented and organised Parts Storeman to join its parts department. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient inventory management and excellent service delivery to both workshop technicians and customers.
Position Overview The Parts Storeman will be responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, issuing, and control of genuine parts, accessories, and consumables, while maintaining manufacturer standards and dealership procedures.
Key Responsibilities Inventory Management
- Receive, inspect, and accurately process incoming parts deliveries
- Maintain organised storage of genuine parts, accessories, and consumables
- Conduct regular stock counts and cycle checks
- Monitor stock levels, including slow-moving and obsolete parts
- Ensure correct storage conditions to prevent damage or deterioration
- Issue parts to workshop technicians accurately and timeously
- Process parts returns and warranty claims in line with manufacturer procedures
- Pick and prepare parts for customer collections and deliveries
- Maintain accurate records of all parts movements on the Dealer Management System
- Use manufacturer Electronic Parts Catalogue (ETK) and dealer management systems
- Process standard and emergency parts orders when required
- Update part numbers and pricing as per manufacturer notifications
- Generate stock, usage, and discrepancy reports
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the parts department
- Adhere to dealership and manufacturer standards
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Handle hazardous materials (oils, chemicals, batteries) responsibly
- Grade 12 (preferred but not essential)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Storeman, ideally within an automotive environment
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn dealership systems
- Good numeracy skills for stock control and invoicing
- Physically fit (able to lift items up to 25kg)
- Valid driver’s licence
- Excellent communication skills
- Team player with a collaborative approach
- Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Able to perform under pressure during peak periods
- Commitment to maintaining premium brand standards
