Production Manager

Production Manager position available in Darling.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Production & Operations Management
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage daily production activities across multiple manufacturing plants.
  • Ensure production targets are met in line with quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Optimise production efficiency by ensuring machinery is correctly set up and operational procedures are followed.

• People & Shift Management
  • Manage shift-based staffing arrangements, including attendance, deployment, and productivity.
  • Physically verify staff presence at the start of shifts and monitor performance throughout the shift.
  • Provide hands‑on leadership on the production floor, addressing slow response times and guiding staff toward practical solutions.
  • Enforce discipline, operational protocols, and workplace standards consistently.

• Technical & Maintenance Support
  • Operate and oversee production machinery controlled by PLC systems; requires computer literacy and a working understanding of basic PLC functionality.
  • Identify mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues to support the maintenance team in diagnosing breakdowns and reducing downtime.
  • Liaise with maintenance personnel to prioritise repairs and ensure production continuity.

• Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Manage and support ad hoc operational projects, including plant expansions, office construction, and the implementation of new machinery or systems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving productivity, reducing waste, and enhancing operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• Relevant qualification in Production Management or a related technical field (advantageous but not essential).
• Technical training or certifications related to manufacturing, machinery operation, or PLC systems will be advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably within heavy manufacturing, construction materials, or similar industries.
• Proven experience managing shift-based production teams in a factory or plant environment.
• Hands‑on experience with production machinery, including exposure to PLC‑controlled equipment.
• Working knowledge of hydraulics and basic electrical systems within an industrial setting.
