Production Supervisor

Our client is a gearbox manufacturing and service company. The company provides engineering solutions and aftermarket support for heavy industries such as mining, power generation, and marine, with a strong local presence supporting South Africa’s industrial sector.

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor – Gear Cutting to manage and lead a high-performing production team within a heavy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring production targets are consistently met while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. • Manage daily, weekly, and quarterly production schedules to meet output targets.
• Supervise and lead approx. 30 production employees.
• Monitor, prioritize, and coordinate workflow to meet deadlines.
• Track and report on production output, work center utilization, and productivity.
• Ensure booked vs paid hours are accurately accounted for.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve production delays using root‑cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production processes.
• Ensure strict adherence to Quality Management Systems.
• Take full accountability for Health & Safety compliance within all work areas.

• N3 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering and/or Fitter & Turner / Turner Trade (essential).
• Production or related diploma/degree (advantageous).
• Minimum 8 years’ production supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing (essential).
• Minimum 5 years’ gear cutting and grinding experience (advantageous).
• Strong understanding of:

• Conventional and CNC Lathes.
• Slotting, Planer, and Milling Machines.
• Solid knowledge of engineering principles and modern production processes.
• Experience with PM and TPM practices.
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
