Maintenance Manager – Injection Moulding

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Manager with a strong background in plastic injection moulding machinery to lead the maintenance function of our 24/7 manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and managing planned and preventative maintenance programs. This role requires excellent technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the flexibility to provide support after hours and on weekends when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all maintenance activities within the injection moulding facility.
- Ensure maximum uptime and reliability of injection moulding machines and supporting equipment.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve planned and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic faults.
- Oversee the maintenance of:
- Injection moulding machines
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Electrical and electronic equipment
- Air compressors
- Chillers
- Cooling towers
- Material handling equipment
- Ancillary production equipment
- Utilize Shopware maintenance software to schedule, monitor, and record maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and equipment histories.
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop the maintenance team.
- Coordinate breakdown repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and company standards.
- Manage maintenance budgets and control spare parts inventory.
- Liaise with production to ensure maintenance activities support operational requirements.
- Coordinate contractors and external service providers when necessary.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement reliability initiatives.
- Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
- Be available for standby duties, after-hours callouts, weekends, and public holidays to support the 24/7 manufacturing operation.
- Trade Test (Millwright, Electrician, Mechanical Fitter, or similar technical qualification).
- National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering will be advantageous.
- Minimum 5–10 years' maintenance management experience within a plastic injection moulding manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience maintaining and troubleshooting injection moulding machines.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Electrical systems
- Electronic controls
- PLCs and automation
- Air compressors
- Chillers
- Cooling towers
- Ancillary production equipment
- Experience using Shopware maintenance software.
- Solid understanding of planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance principles.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and maintenance management software).
- Valid driver's licence.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- High level of accountability, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Manufacturing environment operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, and be available for emergency breakdowns and standby duties when required.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong, hands-on Maintenance Manager with extensive experience in plastic injection moulding, who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. They will have a proven track record of reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability, leading maintenance teams, and ensuring that production runs efficiently through effective preventative maintenance practices.
