Position Title: Balancing Technician

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Balancing Technician, you will play a critical role in the repair, refurbishment, testing, and delivery of rotating equipment for the power, oil, and gas industries. Working within the Wadeville Service Centre, you will perform high-speed and low-speed dynamic balancing, overspeed testing, quality inspections, and technical reporting while ensuring compliance with international balancing standards and Siemens Energy quality requirements. You will also contribute to production planning, equipment maintenance, continuous improvement initiatives, and the development of junior technicians, helping ensure reliable service delivery and operational excellence.

How

You'll Make An Impact
  • Perform high-speed and low-speed dynamic balancing and overspeed testing on turbines, compressors, impellers, generators, gear assemblies, and other rotating equipment
  • Ensure all balancing activities comply with applicable balancing standards, procedures, and quality requirements
  • Prepare balancing reports, certificates, and technical documentation
  • Inspect components before and after balancing to verify quality, safety, and readiness for dispatch
  • Maintain balancing machines, equipment, and associated infrastructure to maximize reliability and operational availability
  • Maintain balancing accessories including bearings, probes, seals, drive adapters, cardan shafts, and related equipment
  • Support production planning by prioritizing balancing activities to meet production schedules
  • Mentor and coach trainees while sharing technical expertise across balancing techniques
  • Collaborate with production teams to optimize workflow and improve throughput
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to balancing processes and operational efficiency
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment while complying with all safety requirements
What You Bring
  • Recognized Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner Trade Certificate
  • Grade 12 and a minimum N6 Mechanical Engineering Diploma (or equivalent)
  • High-Speed Balancing certification from Schenck or equivalent, including Cabflex3 and CAB Series
  • Vibration Analysis Certification (minimum Level
    1)
  • More than 5 years of experience in high-speed and low-speed dynamic balancing
  • Strong expertise in static and dynamic balancing calculations and theory
  • Experience operating balancing software such as Schenck Cabflex3 and CAB Series
  • Knowledge of ISO 21940-1, ISO 21940-12, API 617, and other international balancing standards
  • Experience working with rotating equipment including turbines, compressors, generators, gearboxes, and fans
  • Computer proficiency including SAP, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
