Mission of the role:
The CNC Operator role is vital to our production team, focusing on the precise setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC milling and turning machines to achieve superior-quality outputs. This role demands acute attention to detail, technical expertise in CNC programming and adjustments, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting. The successful candidate will ensure that parts are manufactured within specification, supporting Weco’s commitment to quality and efficiency.
Your Mission:
- Machine Setup and Operation:
Perform accurate setup and operation of CNC mills, turning, and live tooling machines based on production requirements and technical specifications. Load raw materials and conduct initial calibration and alignment checks to ensure optimal machine readiness. - Programming and Adjustment:
Read and interpret detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files to understand manufacturing requirements. Input and modify CNC programs to optimize production processes while maintaining quality and efficiency goals. - Quality Control:
Conduct regular in-process and final inspections of manufactured components using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Identify any deviations from specifications and implement corrective actions promptly to maintain high-quality standards. - Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine preventive maintenance on CNC machines to maintain peak machine performance and longevity. Troubleshoot mechanical or programming issues as they arise to minimize production downtime. - Documentation and Reporting:
Keep comprehensive and accurate records of production output, machine parameters, quality inspections, and maintenance activities. Report any defects, safety issues, or discrepancies immediately to supervisory staff. - Safety and Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe and compliant working environment that protects personnel and equipment.
- Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience operating CNC mills and turning machines in a precision engineering context.
- Proficient in CNC programming, with practical knowledge of Hurco systems regarded as advantageous.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply specifications from technical drawings and blueprints, including GD&T standards and industry norms.
- Demonstrated expertise in using precision measuring instruments to assess and ensure product conformity.
- High mechanical aptitude accompanied by knowledge of CNC machine maintenance practices.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communicator capable of technical dialogue with supervisors and team members.
