We are seeking a skilled and experienced Qualified Turner (Conventional Lathe Machinist) to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for machining steel components to precise specifications using conventional lathes while maintaining the highest standards of quality,accuracy, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate conventional lathes tomachine steel components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Manufacture, repair, modify, and finish precision-engineered components.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, machine settings, and machining methods for each job.
- Measure and inspect completed components to ensure compliance with specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Read and interpret technical drawings andwork instructions accurately.
- Perform routine machine maintenance andkeep equipment in good working condition.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
- Identify machining defects and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure all work is completed within required production schedules.
- Adhere to all company quality, health,safety, and environmental procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified Turner with a recognized
Trade Certificate . - Minimum of 5 years' proven experience operating conventional lathes.
- Extensive experience machining steel components to engineering specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, vernier calipers, dial gauges,and bore gauges.
- Sound knowledge of machining practices,cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and tolerances.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to meet production deadlines.
- Must reside in or around Kempton Park .
