Technical Advisor: Stone Fruit

Dutoit Agri, based in Ceres (Western Cape), has a position available for an experienced Technical Advisor:
Stone Fruit. The main focus of the role will be to provide specialist horticultural advice across the stone fruit production cycle, ensuring that technical practices, product quality and cultivar decisions support optimum production and market performance.

Strong technical judgement, the ability to build trusted relationships and a genuine interest in research, innovation and continuous improvement are qualities of the ideal candidate. The successful candidate will be comfortable working closely with production teams and industry specialists and applying new technical developments in a practical production environment.

Responsibilities will include:

• Provide technical and horticultural advice across stone fruit production units
• Develop and implement technical protocols, trials and improvement initiatives
• Advise on new plantings, cultivars, rootstocks and production practices
• Monitor fruit quality from orchard through packing, storage and export
• Analyse production and post-harvest results and recommend improvements
• Support cultivar and product development with breeding programmes and industry specialists
• Liaise with production teams, customers and relevant industry role players
• Facilitate technical training and knowledge sharing
• All other tasks related to the role.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

• BSc degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related field, MSc degree will be advantageous;
• Proven technical experience within stone fruit production;
• Willingness to travel regularly to relevant production regions;
