Position OverviewWe are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Plant Metallurgist to join our talented team. The position is for a permanent contract and will be based on a Chrome Processing plant at Two Rivers Platinum, Steelpoort. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing technical support in the efficient and safe operation of the plant, ensuring optimal production of a high-quality final product, while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.
You will work closely with a diverse team of professionals, utilising your expertise and technical skills to contribute to our continued success.
The Plant Metallurgist is responsible to assist with the plant optimisation process and ensure maximum Chrome recoveries in the most cost effective and qualitative manner.
Key Responsibilities- Providing technical support to the client.
- Analysis of metallurgical data and technical report writing.
- Plan and carry out test work on the plant as and when necessary.
- Analyse equipment performance and provide corrective actions if necessary.
- Incorporate new technologies into plant processes as and when required.
- Control the plant activities within specified parameters and legal requirements to ensure all production targets are achieved.
- Monitoring plant operations to ensure that the product is produced within specification.
- Managing operational staff and liaison with engineering departments, instituting corrective action where necessary.
- Operate the plant cost effectively by minimising stoppages and downtime.
- Implementing proper planning, organising, leading and controlling methods to control all operation requirements and employee activities.
- Strict adherence to the mine’s Risk assessment and Safety Management program.
- Continuous improvement through research and development.
- Identify and develop methods to improve plant efficiency, systems and procedures.
- Metallurgy and/or Process Engineering qualification.
- Minimum of [5] years’ experience in the Chrome beneficiation industry.
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of the Chrome beneficiation process and equipment.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and procedures in a mining environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality results.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
