About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Production Engineer to lead and optimize production processes at their facility in Vereeniging . This critical role demands a deep understanding of manufacturing operations, efficiency improvements, and quality control. You will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the seamless execution of production plans. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and optimize daily production operations to meet targets for output, quality, and cost.
- Lead process improvement projects using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust production documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and root causes of problems, implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality, maintenance, and supply chain, to resolve issues and enhance overall performance.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and production staff, promoting best practices and skill development.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least 6 years of progressive experience in production engineering or manufacturing operations.
- Proven expertise in lean manufacturing , Kaizen, 5S, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and ERP systems.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and stakeholder management.
