About Role:
A leading precision engineering and manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Workshop / Production Manager to take full responsibility for the efficient running of the workshop and production operations.
We are looking for a hands-on, technically strong leader with a solid background in precision engineering, CNC machining and production management.
Key Responsibilities:Manage the day-to-day operations of the engineering workshop
Oversee production, CNC machining and manufacturing activities
Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet deadlines
Allocate jobs, resources, machines and staff effectively
Monitor production progress and ensure jobs are completed on time and to specification
Lead, manage and motivate workshop and production teams
Ensure high standards of quality control and quality assurance
Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications
Troubleshoot technical and production-related problems
Liaise with clients regarding job specifications, progress and delivery requirements
Monitor productivity, turnaround times and workshop performance
Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and engineering standards
Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and reduce downtime
Take ownership of workshop performance and production targets
Proven experience in a Workshop Manager, Production Manager or similar management role
Strong background in precision engineering / manufacturing
Extensive CNC machining and programming experience
Experience managing a production or engineering workshop
Strong production planning and scheduling experience
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Good understanding of quality control and inspection processes
Experience managing and leading technical/workshop teams
Strong technical problem-solving skills
Experience dealing with clients and meeting customer specifications
Good understanding of engineering, safety and quality standards
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, technically capable and commercially aware, with the leadership ability to ensure the workshop operates efficiently while maintaining quality, productivity and delivery commitments.
