Purpose Of The Job

The Fabrication Foreman is responsible for improving cost efficiency, production

efficiency, continuous improvement, implementing various quality and operation

management system.

Key Performance Areas

(This is not an exhaustive list of functions to be carried out).

To perform the following tasks;

  • Reports to:

    Head of Production
  • Preparing effective weekly or fortnightly production plan to achieve material ready 7 days ahead of press production
  • Review of steel wastage for each item ahead of planning and take action to minimize wastages by deploying various strategies
  • Improving operation and material cost
  • Study all bottlenecks in operation and cost efficiencies and take actions to resolve them
  • Implementing best operation and safety practices in fabrication
  • Ensuring match of physical inventory w.r.t. SAP
  • Co-ordinate with planning, tool room, blasting, stores, procurement, production, and maintenance for various department related activities
Qualifications
  • Trade certificate / diploma in Fabrication, Boilermaking, Welding, or Mechanical Engineering (relevant technical qualification).
  • 5–8 years' experience in heavy/structural steel fabrication, of which 2–3 years in a supervisory / foreman role.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering, structural and GA/detail drawings.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical drawings
  • Good at Autocad and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of welding and cutting process, hand tools
  • Knowledge of TQM / 5S / QC tools
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong shop-floor leadership, planning and team-supervision skills.
  • Solid understanding of SHEQ, risk assessment and quality-control practices.
  • Cost, material and productivity awareness; ability to control scrap and rework.
  • Good communication and coordination across production, QA/QC, maintenance and subcontractors.
  • Problem-solving, decision-making and ability to work under production pressure.
  • Computer literacy for reporting (production logs, job cards, MS Office / ERP).
