PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Lead and manage all operational, maintenance, safety, quality, cost, and people performance activities within the OCC (Old Corrugated Containers) Value Stream to ensure the achievement of production, reliability, quality, and cost objectives while supporting uninterrupted paper machine operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Lead and manage all operational, maintenance, safety, quality, cost, and people performance activities within the OCC (Old Corrugated Containers) Value Stream to ensure the achievement of production, reliability, quality, and cost objectives while supporting uninterrupted paper machine operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with all legal, company, safety, health, environmental and quality standards within the OCC operation.
• Drive a zero-harm culture by identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
• Lead incident investigations and ensure root causes are identified, and corrective actions are effectively implemented.
• Maintain housekeeping standards in accordance with 5S principles and mill requirements.
• Monitor compliance with safe work procedures and permit-to-work requirements.
• Ensure timely reporting and resolution of safety deviations, defects and non-conformances.

• Manage incoming wastepaper quality to ensure compliance with approved raw material specifications.
• Monitor stock levels, stock movements and inventory accuracy to support production requirements.
• Ensure stock rotation practices maintain inventory age below six months.
• Optimize raw material inventories to balance production requirements and working capital objectives.
• Review waste reports and implement actions to reduce losses and improve material utilization.

• Manage OCC operations in accordance with approved operating standards and procedures.
• Deliver OCC throughput of 40 tph or greater while achieving agreed quality targets.
• Ensure OCC plant availability supports uninterrupted paper machine operations.
• Monitor and optimize process performance to achieve quality, production and efficiency objectives.
• Maintain sand content below required specifications and achieve target stock quality standards.
• Lead process troubleshooting activities and implement corrective actions to resolve process deviations.
• Drive operational excellence through continuous monitoring of key process indicators.

• Develop and implement preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies.
• Ensure planned maintenance activities are executed effectively to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
• Manage critical spares, consumables and replacement programmes to minimize operational risk.
• Lead shutdown planning, execution and post-shutdown reviews to achieve maintenance objectives.
• Conduct root cause analyses on equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Monitor equipment condition and reliability indicators to drive proactive maintenance improvements.
