Apprentice Welder; Structural Steel

Our client, a highly respected company specializing in structural steel fabrication and construction, is seeking a motivated Apprentice Welder to join their fabrication workshop team in Benoni, Gauteng. • Assist in the preparation of metal surfaces for welding.
• Learn and practice various welding techniques, including ARC, MIG, and TIG welding, under supervision.
• Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
• Perform basic welding tasks on structural steel components as instructed.
• Assist in fitting and assembling metal parts prior to welding.
• Inspect welds for quality, integrity, and adherence to specifications.
• Maintain welding equipment and ensure the cleanliness of the workshop area.
• Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Completed Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent, with a pass in Mathematics.
• A strong interest in welding, fabrication, and metalwork.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Physical fitness, as the role involves standing for extended periods, manual handling, and working in a workshop environment.
• Commitment to completing a full apprenticeship program and achieving relevant welding certifications.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive attitude towards learning.
• Must be willing to work in Benoni and adhere to workshop hours.
• Basic understanding of metal properties is a plus.
