Development Officer - Major Gifts

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Development Officer specializing in Major Gifts for their operations in Vereeniging . This role is crucial for cultivating and deepening relationships with high-net-worth individuals to secure significant financial contributions that sustain and grow the organization's charitable impact. You will develop personalized cultivation plans, solicit substantial gifts, and steward donor relationships to ensure long-term support.

This position requires a sophisticated understanding of donor motivations and a proven ability to close major gifts within the Gauteng region.

• Identify, research, and qualify prospective major gift donors within the defined Vereeniging and surrounding areas.
• Develop and execute tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual donors capable of making significant contributions.
• Build and maintain strong, meaningful relationships with existing major donors, ensuring effective stewardship.
• Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and case statements for major gift solicitations.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and board members on donor engagement and solicitations.
• Track donor interactions, gifts, and pledges accurately in the CRM database.

• Proven track record in major gift fundraising or high-level development, preferably within the non-profit sector.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and persuade high-net-worth individuals.
• Demonstrated success in planning and executing cultivation strategies and closing significant gifts.
• Strong understanding of donor motivations and ethical fundraising practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and manage a portfolio of prospects independently.
• Experience using donor databases (CRM) for tracking and reporting is essential.
