Role DescriptionThe Junior Safety Officer is a temporary, on-site role based in Secunda, responsible for supporting day-to-day health and safety activities on the worksite. The role includes assisting with safety inspections, monitoring compliance with safety procedures, and reporting hazards or unsafe conditions. The Junior Safety Officer will help with accident and incident investigations, maintain safety documentation, and contribute to safety meetings and toolbox talks.
The role also involves supporting occupational health initiatives, coordinating basic safety training sessions, and collaborating with site management and security teams to promote a safe working environment.
- Candidates should possess skills in Health & Safety and Occupational Health to support compliance with relevant regulations and workplace standards.
- Candidates should possess skills in Accident Investigation to assist in documenting incidents, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
- Candidates should possess skills in Security to help monitor site access, support emergency procedures, and promote a secure work environment.
- Candidates should possess skills in Safety Training to help deliver or coordinate basic safety orientations and refresher sessions for workers.
- Relevant certification or coursework in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, or equivalent) is beneficial.
- Previous site-based experience in industrial, construction, or plant environments is an advantage.
- Strong communication, observation, and reporting skills, with the ability to follow procedures and work as part of a team.
- Willingness to work on-site in Secunda and adhere to all company and client safety policies.
