About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Formulation Scientist to join their dynamic research and development department in Klerksdorp . This key position will involve the design, development, and optimization of innovative drug delivery systems and pharmaceutical formulations. You will lead projects from concept to bench scale, focusing on creating stable, effective, and patient-friendly dosage forms. This role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the advancement of novel therapeutics within a collaborative and well-equipped laboratory setting in the North West province.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop novel pharmaceutical formulations for various dosage forms (e.g., oral solids, injectables, topicals).
- Conduct pre-formulation studies, including solubility, stability, and compatibility assessments.
- Optimize formulations to improve drug bioavailability, efficacy, and patient compliance.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for characterizing formulated products.
- Scale-up formulation processes from laboratory to pilot plant, ensuring robustness and reproducibility.
- Collaborate closely with analytical development, process engineering, and regulatory affairs teams.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and scientific advancements in pharmaceutical formulation.
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of hands‑on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Expertise in various dosage forms and drug delivery technologies.
- Proficiency in formulation development techniques and characterization methods.
- Strong understanding of physicochemical principles relevant to drug formulation.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, project management skills, and a track record of successful product development.
