Formulation Scientist - Pharmaceutical R&D

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Formulation Scientist to join their Research and Development team in Benoni. This role is central to the development of new pharmaceutical products, focusing on creating stable, effective, and patient-friendly dosage forms. You will be involved in pre-formulation studies, formulation development, process optimization, and scale-up activities. • Design and develop stable and effective pharmaceutical formulations (e.g., oral solid dosage, liquids, semi-solids) for new drug candidates.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including characterization of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients.
• Optimize formulation parameters and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, efficacy, and manufacturability.
• Perform dissolution testing, stability studies, and other relevant analytical evaluations.
• Support scale-up activities from laboratory to pilot and commercial manufacturing.
• Collaborate with analytical, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to achieve project goals.

• Master's or PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Hands-on experience with various dosage forms and formulation techniques.
• Proficiency in using laboratory equipment for formulation development and characterization.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical sciences, physical chemistry, and drug delivery principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
