About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Hygiene Officer to join their team in Vereeniging . This role is pivotal in ensuring that all facilities and operations meet stringent hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards, particularly within industrial or food processing environments. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring hygiene programs, conducting regular audits, and providing expert advice to management and staff.

This hybrid role allows for a combination of on-site inspections and remote policy development, offering a dynamic work experience. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and possesses a deep understanding of regulatory compliance.

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive hygiene and sanitation policies and procedures across all operational areas.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess compliance with hygiene standards, food safety regulations, and other relevant legislation.
• Investigate and report on hygiene-related incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on proper hygiene practices, sanitation techniques, and the safe handling of materials.
• Monitor and manage pest control programs and waste management systems to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to hygiene and sanitation.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience as a Hygiene Officer, Quality Assurance Specialist, or in a similar regulatory compliance role.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and auditing skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and training.
• Ability to work both independently on-site and remotely, managing a varied workload.
