Marketing Officer
Under the supervision of the Senior Marketing Officer, the Marketing Officer supports the implementation of agricultural marketing policies, programmes, and district‑level plans to promote market development. The role involves coordinating marketing activities, collecting and analysing market intelligence, ensuring effective dissemination of market information to stakeholders, and supporting import and export control, quality control measures, and monitoring and evaluation of extension and research programmes.
KeyDuties and Responsibilities 2.1 Marketing Policy Support and Programme Implementation
- Assist in the implementation of agricultural marketing policies, programmes, and district plans.
- Monitor programme activities and report implementation gaps.
- Participate in policy review consultations, stakeholder meetings, and market studies.
- Provide input into policy analysis and contribute to the preparation of briefing reports.
- Collect, compile, and analyse market data, including prices, volumes, and market trends.
- Support market research studies using approved methodologies.
- Maintain marketing information systems and databases.
- Facilitate dissemination of market information to farmers, traders, and stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of quality control measures for agricultural products.
- Monitor compliance with quality standards in markets and value chains.
- Provide technical advice on quality assurance and product handling.
- Assist in monitoring local production levels to inform import and export control decisions.
- Support the administration of permits and related documentation.
- Monitor compliance with import and export regulations.
- Provide data to support regulatory improvements.
- Conduct inspections of markets, traders, and agro‑enterprises.
- Verify compliance with agricultural marketing regulations and licensing requirements.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports with findings and recommendations.
- Follow up on non‑compliance cases and corrective actions.
- Support coordination of district marketing activities and programmes.
- Assist in preparing work plans, activity schedules, and progress reports.
- Liaise with district stakeholders to facilitate programme implementation.
- Support development of agro‑processing, manufacturing, and value‑addition initiatives.
- Identify business opportunities in livestock and crop value chains.
- Monitor agro‑industry performance and report progress.
- Support monitoring and evaluation of extension and research‑related marketing programmes.
- Collect field data and contribute to performance assessments.
- Assist in preparing monitoring and evaluation reports.
- Assist in processing applications for agricultural trade licences.
- Maintain records of licences, renewals, and compliance reports.
- Support training and capacity‑building initiatives for farmers, traders, and cooperatives.
- Facilitate linkages between producers and markets.
- Assist in organising outreach activities and market promotion events.
- Maintain records of activities, data, and reports.
- Support identification of training needs and logistical arrangements.
- Ensure proper use and accountability of assigned resources.
- Develop methodologies for policy analysis and market studies.
- Monitor implementation of programmes and recommend improvements.
- Organise and participate in meetings to gather insights on external markets and policy issues.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration or a related field; OR
- Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Marketing, Agribusiness Management, or Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing).
