Regional Co-ordinator Agronomy

The organisation, a non-profit company, was established to serve, protect, and promote the interests of the South African potato industry. The organisation offers various strategic services to producers and other role players; and to fulfil its role, it focuses on the following key areas: research and development, industry information, transformation, market development and generic product promotion.

The candidate will be based at the organisation’s regional offices in the various areas where positions need to be filled, serving applicable regional locations.

• Design, coordinate, and manage field trials aligned with research objectives.
• Develop and implement research protocols, supervise trials, and monitor progress.
• Ensure accurate data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation of research findings.
• Compile detailed reports and disseminate results to stakeholders.
• Build and maintain relationships with producers, suppliers, researchers, and industry stakeholders.
• Facilitate feedback sessions and incorporate insights into research projects.
• Organize regional workshops, training sessions, and producer meetings.
• Serve as the regional contact for the organisation's activities.
• Provide guidance to producers on research findings and technical issues.
• Assist with on-farm problem-solving and best practice implementation.
• Present research findings at events and workshops.
• Develop and distribute summaries, fact sheets, and other communication materials.
• Identify regional production challenges through consultations.
• Propose and align research initiatives with industry priorities.
• Maintain accurate records of research activities and interactions.
• Submit progress reports and ensure compliance with organisational requirements.
• Compile hectare reports, conduct producer visits, arrange meetings, and coordinate regional activities and projects.

• A BScAgric degree or higher in Crop Production, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in agricultural research or project coordination.
• Experience in field trial management and working with producers is advantageous.
• Fluency in at least two South African languages, one of which must be Afrikaans.
• Strong ability to design, execute, and interpret research trials.
• Proficient in analyzing and interpreting agricultural data.
• Skilled in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
• Ability to build and maintain strong networks with diverse stakeholders.
• In-depth knowledge of cropping systems and potato production.
• Critical-thinking skills to address regional production challenges.
• Advanced computer skills, including statistical software and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Must be able to solve problems.
• Valid Code B driver’s license.

Regional responsibility:
Limpopo, and also a position possibly based at head office in Pretoria.Market-related salary will be offered.
