The Bioacoustics Monitoring Specialist will work in Witbank, a region known for its diverse ecosystems, to implement and analyze acoustic data collection systems. • Deploy and maintain automated acoustic recording devices in diverse habitats
• Analyze bioacoustic data to identify species presence and behavior patterns
• Collaborate with ecologists to interpret findings and inform conservation strategies
• Develop standardized protocols for data collection and quality assurance
• Present findings through reports and presentations to stakeholders

• Proficiency in bioacoustic software (e.g., Raven Pro, PAMGuard)
• Experience with field data collection in remote environments
• Strong analytical skills with statistical tools (R, Python)
• Knowledge of South African biodiversity and ecosystems
• Excellent communication and report‑writing abilities

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related discipline. Advanced training in bioacoustics or wildlife monitoring is highly advantageous.

Minimum of 3-5 years in environmental monitoring, preferably with bioacoustic technologies. Experience in project management and cross-disciplinary collaboration is essential.

42,000 – 55,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience.
