About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Research Chemical Engineer specializing in new materials development for their advanced R&D division in Benoni . This role is focused on exploring, synthesizing, and characterizing novel chemical compounds and materials with potential applications in emerging technologies. You will work in state-of-the-art laboratories, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, and contribute to intellectual property generation.
This position is ideal for a creative problem-solver passionate about pushing the boundaries of material science within the Gauteng region.
- Conduct fundamental and applied research into the synthesis, characterization, and application of new chemical materials.
- Design and execute experiments to explore novel chemical pathways and process conditions.
- Utilize advanced analytical techniques (e.g., spectroscopy, chromatography, microscopy) to characterize material properties.
- Develop scalable laboratory procedures for promising new materials.
- Collaborate with research scientists and engineers across different disciplines to integrate material innovations into broader technological solutions.
- Document research findings, prepare technical reports, and contribute to patent applications.
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with a strong focus on materials science or polymer chemistry.
- Proven track record of research and development in novel materials synthesis and characterization.
- Hands-on experience with advanced laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation.
- Strong understanding of theoretical chemistry and physical principles governing material behavior.
- Excellent scientific writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team in Benoni.
