About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist specializing in Organic Chemistry to join their dynamic research and development team in Klerksdorp. This role is critical for the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel organic molecules for various applications. You will lead challenging synthetic projects, troubleshoot complex chemical problems, and contribute to the innovation pipeline. Key Responsibilities- Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes for complex organic compounds.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using advanced analytical techniques such as NMR, Mass Spectrometry, and HPLC.
- Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability of synthetic processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve synthetic challenges encountered during research projects.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to define project goals and timelines.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare technical reports and presentations.
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
- Demonstrated expertise in modern organic synthesis methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
- Proficiency in spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for compound characterization.
- Ability to independently manage research projects and mentor junior chemists.
