About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Research Scientist with expertise in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to join their dedicated research facility in Vereeniging. This position plays a critical role in exploring biological pathways and developing novel therapeutic or diagnostic targets. You will conduct rigorous experiments, analyze complex biological data, and contribute to the discovery phase of new research programs. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundational knowledge of biological systems and a passion for advancing scientific understanding in a laboratory-focused setting.
Key Responsibilities- Design and perform experiments related to protein function, enzyme kinetics, and cellular signaling pathways.
- Utilize molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning, and gene expression analysis.
- Isolate, purify, and characterize biological molecules.
- Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and bioinformatics tools.
- Troubleshoot experimental procedures and optimize protocols for efficiency and reproducibility.
- Document research findings meticulously and contribute to internal reports and presentations.
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant research experience, preferably in an R&D environment.
- Hands-on experience with a range of biochemical assays and molecular biology techniques.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and basic bioinformatics tools.
- Strong understanding of scientific principles relevant to cellular and molecular processes.
- Excellent laboratory techniques and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
