Senior Systems Biologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and innovative Senior Systems Biologist to join their advanced research division in Vereeniging . This role is central to understanding complex biological systems through the integration of multi-omics data, computational modeling, and experimental validation. You will be instrumental in uncovering emergent properties of cellular networks and predicting responses to various perturbations, thereby informing therapeutic strategies.

• Develop and apply computational models to analyze and interpret large-scale biological datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics).
• Integrate diverse data types to build comprehensive models of cellular and organismal systems.
• Design and conduct computational experiments to test hypotheses and predict system behavior.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to guide experimental design and interpret results within the context of systems biology.
• Develop and implement novel algorithms and software tools for systems biology research.
• Effectively communicate complex findings and model insights to diverse scientific audiences.

• Ph.D. in Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biophysics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in developing and applying computational models to biological systems.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) and experience with relevant modeling software.
• Deep understanding of network analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques.
• Experience integrating and analyzing multi-omics data.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively on interdisciplinary projects.
