About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Research Chemist with expertise in organic synthesis to join their dynamic research and development team in Vereeniging . This role is integral to the discovery and development of new chemical compounds for various applications. You will be responsible for designing and executing synthetic routes, characterizing novel molecules, and optimizing reaction conditions. This position offers a significant opportunity to contribute to scientific innovation within a well-equipped laboratory and collaborate with a team of experienced chemists and researchers in the Gauteng region.
Key Responsibilities- Design and synthesize novel organic molecules using various synthetic methodologies.
- Purify and characterize synthesized compounds using techniques such as NMR, MS, and HPLC.
- Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and efficiency.
- Conduct literature reviews to identify and evaluate potential synthetic targets and strategies.
- Document all experimental procedures, results, and conclusions meticulously in laboratory notebooks.
- Collaborate with other chemists and researchers on cross-functional projects.
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in multi-step organic synthesis and reaction mechanism studies.
- Proficiency in modern spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for compound characterization.
- Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and stereo chemistry.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous approach to experimental work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team in Vereeniging .
