About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Crop Scientist to lead research and development initiatives for their agricultural ventures near Vereeniging . This role involves studying plant physiology, genetics, and environmental factors to improve crop yield, quality, and resilience. You will design and conduct field trials, analyze experimental data, and translate findings into practical recommendations for farm management. This position is key to ensuring sustainable and efficient crop production in the Gauteng region.

• Design and execute field experiments to evaluate crop varieties, fertilizers, and cultivation techniques.
• Analyze data from experiments using statistical methods and interpret results to draw conclusions.
• Study plant physiology, soil science, and genetics to understand factors affecting crop growth.
• Develop and recommend best practices for planting, irrigation, pest management, and harvesting.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and technological advancements in crop science.
• Collaborate with farm managers and agronomists to implement research findings on commercial operations.

• Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Biology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in conducting agricultural research and field trials.
• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis software and experimental design.
• Familiarity with a wide range of crops relevant to the region.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and presentations.
• Ability to work independently and manage research projects from inception to completion in Vereeniging .
