Research Associate - Organic Chemistry

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic Research Associate to join their Organic Chemistry research team in Klerksdorp . This role is ideal for an individual passionate about synthetic organic chemistry and its application in developing new molecules for the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries. You will contribute to the design and execution of synthetic routes, purification, and characterization of novel compounds.

This position offers a fantastic opportunity to grow within a dedicated Scientific Research & Development department, working with experienced chemists on impactful projects.

• Perform multi-step organic syntheses following established protocols and troubleshooting synthetic challenges.
• Purify synthesized compounds using chromatographic techniques (column chromatography, HPLC).
• Characterize synthesized compounds using spectroscopic methods (NMR, Mass Spectrometry, IR).
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in accordance with company standards.
• Collaborate with senior chemists on project goals and experimental planning.
• Assist in the preparation of research reports and presentations.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Proficiency in standard organic synthesis techniques and laboratory practices.
• Experience with common purification and characterization methods.
• Familiarity with spectroscopic interpretation (NMR, MS).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for meticulous work in Klerksdorp .
