About the Role
Our client is seeking a distinguished Senior Biophysicist to join their elite Structural Biology research group in Nelspruit . This crucial role will involve applying cutting-edge biophysical techniques to elucidate the structures and dynamics of complex biological macromolecules, vital for drug discovery and understanding disease mechanisms. You will lead projects, develop novel methodologies, and collaborate extensively with biochemists, structural biologists, and computational chemists.

- Apply and develop advanced biophysical techniques, including Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC), and Differential Scanning Fluorimetry (DSF).
- Determine the binding kinetics and thermodynamics of protein-ligand interactions.
- Utilize techniques such as X-ray crystallography and Cryo-EM to contribute to structural determination projects.
- Characterize the conformational stability and dynamics of proteins and other biomolecules.
- Collaborate with structural biologists and computational scientists to interpret and integrate data.
- Troubleshoot experimental issues and optimize protocols for complex biomolecular systems.
- Ph.D. in Biophysics , Biochemistry, or a related physical science discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of research experience in biophysics, with a focus on macromolecular interactions.
- Extensive hands-on experience with key biophysical techniques relevant to drug discovery.
- Strong theoretical understanding of thermodynamics, kinetics, and molecular interactions.
- Experience with protein expression, purification, and characterization is required.
