Research Chemist - Organic Synthesis

Our client is seeking a talented Research Chemist with expertise in Organic Synthesis to join their dedicated R&D team in Nelspruit . This role is critical for the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel organic molecules for various applications, including pharmaceuticals and materials science. You will be responsible for planning and executing multi-step synthesis projects, troubleshooting synthetic challenges, and ensuring the high-quality production of target compounds.

• Design and execute complex multi-step organic synthesis routes to prepare novel target molecules.
• Purify and characterize synthesized compounds using techniques such as NMR, Mass Spectrometry, and HPLC.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability of synthetic processes.
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop creative solutions to overcome obstacles.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare comprehensive reports on experimental results.
• Collaborate with other chemists and researchers to support ongoing projects and initiatives.

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in modern organic synthesis methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with a wide range of synthetic techniques and purification methods.
• Proficiency in spectroscopic characterization techniques (NMR, MS, IR, UV-Vis).
• Familiarity with handling air-sensitive reagents and performing reactions under inert atmosphere.
