Research Biologist - Molecular Genetics

Our client is seeking a talented Research Biologist with expertise in Molecular Genetics to join their R&D team in Vereeniging . This critical role involves investigating the genetic basis of various biological processes and diseases, utilizing state-of-the-art molecular techniques. You will contribute to novel research projects aimed at understanding gene function, regulation, and inheritance. The successful candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented scientist, eager to make significant contributions in a collaborative laboratory environment, pushing the boundaries of biological understanding and innovation.

• Perform experiments involving DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and gene cloning.
• Utilize genetic engineering techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 for gene editing.
• Analyze sequencing data (e.g., WGS, RNA-Seq) using bioinformatics tools.
• Design and conduct experiments to study gene expression and protein-protein interactions.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and document experimental procedures.
• Collaborate with other researchers on interdisciplinary projects and present findings.

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral or relevant industry experience.
• Proven hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques.
• Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis is highly desirable.
• Experience with cell culture and maintaining cell lines.
