Senior Research Scientist - Organic Synthesis

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Scientist specializing in Organic Synthesis to join their dynamic R&D team in Vereeniging . This role is integral to designing and executing complex synthetic routes for novel chemical entities, playing a key role in the discovery and development of new materials and pharmaceuticals. You will leverage your expertise in synthetic organic chemistry to overcome challenging synthetic problems and contribute to the advancement of the company's research pipeline.

• Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes for complex organic molecules.
• Optimize reaction conditions and purification methods to maximize yield and purity.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using various analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC, etc.).
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop innovative solutions.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with other research groups to advance project goals.

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry, preferably in an industrial R&D setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in modern synthetic methodologies, reaction mechanisms, and stereo chemistry.
• Proficiency in spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for compound characterization.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
