Sous Chef – Luxury Safari Lodge – Kwa Zulu-Natal
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join the pre-opening team of a luxury Big 5 safari lodge. The successful candidate will support the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef, supervise kitchen staff, and deliver exceptional five-star cuisine and dining experiences for international guests.
Salary: R35,000 DOE
Key Responsibilities- Support the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff to maintain high performance standards
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and portion control meet luxury standards
- Manage inventory, stock control and monitor food costs
- Assist with menu planning and the development of innovative dishes
- Maintain hygiene and safety standards in accordance with regulations
- Proven culinary expertise in modern and traditional cuisine
- Leadership and team supervision experience
- High standards in food quality, presentation and portion control
- Knowledge of inventory, stock control and food cost management
- Luxury lodge or high‑end hospitality experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with creativity and precision
