Trainee Manager (Internal Applications Only) About the job

Protect and grow profitable market share within a Store in accordance to the Store, Division and Company strategy.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 with at least 2 years retail management experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid  work permit (local)
  • Strong accounting skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Computer literacy (basic)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Own transport and cell phone
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety (OHSA or local legislation)
  • Strong human resources skills
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Store Manager to make immediate action on any non‑compliance once identified
  • Assist the Store Manager to manage damage, obsolete and slow‑moving stock items
  • Strategic Management: develop, implement and manage a Store Business Plan aligned with company strategy and approved by Divisional and Operations Managers
  • Grow and protect market share: achieve growth in market share, sales budgets and growth objectives by category, promote customer loyalty programmes, manage distribution of advertising materials, develop action plans to protect market when competitors enter
  • Customer Service: implement and monitor customer service strategy, maintain customer audit scores above 95%, provide reliable and prompt delivery service, grow and maintain VIC client base, achieve transaction budgets, recommend range improvements, act on customer surveys
  • Asset Control: manage stock shrinkage, PIC process, wall‑to‑wall stock take, internal stock movement, end control, IBTs, customer returns, receiving, security requirements and physical measures, cash management (debtors, RD cheques, petty cash, daily banking, shorts and overs, cheques and credit cards), fixed asset maintenance (racking, displays, signage, forklift, generator, IT equipment, telephone systems, safe)
  • Human Resource Management: recruit and induct employees, ensure training & development, succession planning, manpower requirements, open communication through CARE Meetings and CB Mail, manage employee relations
  • Store Safety (OHSA) Standards: manage safety aspects, complete checklists, appoint safety reps, report incidents, record all incidents
  • Store Trading Standards: maintain housekeeping standards, merchandising standards, implement correct planograms, maintain yard and parking areas
  • Profitability: achieve operating income budget, manage store per financial model, benchmarks and budgets
  • CB Way: achieve audit benchmark, monitor adherence to company standards, implement and maintain controls and disciplines, execute corrective action plans
