Woolworths invites motivated professionals to join us as a Department Coordinator:
Foods at Fountains Mall, Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape. This full‑time role within our Corporate Stores business unit requires leading and coordinating daily shop floor operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and efficient inventory management. You will supervise staff, handle customer queries and complaints, maintain product knowledge, and implement shop‑keeping disciplines to uphold store standards. The position demands advanced planning, organisational, and analytical skills to optimise stock control, minimise shrinkage, and enforce security protocols.

Ideal candidates hold Grade 12 or a National Certificate, preferably with retail or FMCG experience, and possess excellent communication, leadership, and resilience.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level.
  • Proven experience in retail or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle complaints and queries efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills for confidently addressing groups and writing professional correspondence.
  • Advanced planning and organising capabilities, including task prioritisation and delegation.
  • Excellent attention to detail to maintain high quality and professional standards.
  • Demonstrated resilience in leading teams during challenging situations and setbacks.
  • High ethical standards with integrity and reliability in workplace conduct.
  • Analytical thinking to assess data and develop logical, actionable solutions.
  • Numeracy and literacy skills to comprehend and process complex information accurately.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily shop floor operations to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional customer service.
  • Manage inventory levels by monitoring stock availability, investigating out-of-stock items, and communicating feedback to relevant departments.
  • Support and supervise team members by facilitating training, monitoring performance, and delegating tasks to maintain operational standards.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and till transactions promptly and professionally, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain product knowledge by staying informed about new stock lines, promotions, and adhering to ticketing standards.
  • Implement shop‑keeping disciplines to ensure store readiness, including completing the Fashion, Beauty, and Home checklists.
  • Contribute to loss prevention by observing and reporting suspicious activities and enforcing security protocols.
  • Lead team meetings and support game plan initiatives to drive collective goals and operational improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to company uniform and professional presentation standards at all times.
  • Apply advanced planning, organisational, and analytical skills to optimise shop floor performance and resolve issues efficiently.
