The Second In Charge role at Signature Cosmetics is a full-time, on-site position based at Ermelo Mall in Mpumalanga, with operational oversight aligned to the City of Johannesburg management structure, for a fixed term of three months. The person in this role supports the Store Manager with day-to-day store operations, including supervising staff, monitoring sales performance, and ensuring that customer service standards are consistently met.
Key responsibilities include assisting with opening and closing procedures, managing stock levels and merchandising, overseeing cash handling and banking processes, and enforcing company policies and procedures. The role also includes coaching team members, helping to coordinate shift schedules, and contributing to a positive, compliant, and sales-driven store environment. This position requires active engagement on the sales floor, clear communication with the store team, and responsiveness to operational issues as they arise.
- Strong retail operations skills, including experience with store opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and stock management.
- Demonstrated team leadership abilities, with skills in staff supervision, performance support, and day-to-day shift coordination.
- Customer service and sales skills, with a track record of engaging shoppers, driving sales, and maintaining high service standards.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, handle operational challenges, and maintain attention to detail.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, customers, and management.
- Previous experience in cosmetics, beauty, or fashion retail is advantageous.
- Ability to work on-site, including weekends, public holidays, and shifts as required.
- Matric (high school completion) or equivalent qualification; additional retail or supervisory training is beneficial.
