Makro – 2026 Merchandiser Learnership Programme

Applications are open for the 2026 Merchandiser Learnership Programme hosted at Makro Alberton (Newmarket Park) in partnership with Smollan. This 12-month, NQF-aligned programme offers young South Africans practical training in visual merchandising, stock management, and customer service while earning a monthly stipend.

Learners undergo practical on-the-job training covering the following daily tasks:

• Stock and Shelf Management:
  Counting, unpacking, documenting, and organizing store inventory.
• Visual Merchandising:
  Setting up floor displays, pricing products accurately, and planning layouts to optimize sales.
• Customer Service:
  Assisting shoppers, resolving basic queries, and maintaining comprehensive product knowledge.
• Store Upkeep:
  Maintaining cleanliness and organization across the trading floor and stockroom.

Applicants must fulfill all the following criteria to be considered:

• Education:
  
  Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
• Language:
  Proficiency in English.
• Location:
  
  Residence within a 15km radius of Newmarket Park, Alberton (suitable for candidates in Alberton, Germiston, Vosloorus, and surrounding East Rand areas).
• Background Check: A clear criminal record.
• Age Target:
  Youth aged 18 to 35.
• Tools:
  Ownership of a functional smartphone. (Successful applicants must use a Vodacom SIM card for operational systems).
